Riding just off Montreal Island - north shore.
Expanding bedroom community, low to mid income Francophone families.

Masson riding contains the towns of : Charlemagne, Le Gardeur and Mascouche.

It also contains that part of the city of Terrebonne corresponding to the Ville de La Plaine as it existed up until June 26, 2001.

Redistribution:

Riding created prior to the 1989 election from 26.43% L'ASSOMPTION and 53.62% TERREBONNE.

In 1992 redistribution:

  • lost L'Epiphanie to Rousseau and Lachenaie to Terrebonne.

    In 2001 redistribution:

  • lost area from SE corner with only two electors to Terrebonne.

    Political History:

  • LIB DENIS HARDY won in 1970, 1973; PQ ELIE FALLU in 1976. PQ YVES BLAIS won in 1981 and 1985 (by 5,678).

    MASSON

  • In 1989, PQ YVES BLAIS, incumbent from Terrebonne, won in this riding.

  • In 1994, PQ BLAIS defeated LIB ALAIN LECLERC by 14,490 votes.

  • In 1998, PQ GILLES LABBÉ defeated ADQ ERIC PARENT by 12,615 votes.
