In 1970, LIB ROBERT QUENNEVILLE defeated UN PIERRE ROY by 3,235 votes. PQ BERNARD LANDRY was third. Appointed Minister of State, Health, May 1970; Minister of Social Affairs, Dec. 1970; Minister responsible for Development of East-Quebec, 1971; Minister responsible for Planning and Development of Quebec, 1972.
In 1973, in riding now called Joliette-Montclam, LIB QUENNEVILLE defeated PQ BERNARD LANDRY by 6,010 votes. (Landry won in Fabre in 1976) Minister responsible for Perspectives Jeunesse, New Horizons and local initiatives, 1973-75; Minister of Revenue, 1975-76.
In 1976 (Joliette-Montclam), PQ GUY CHEVRETTE defeated LIB QUENNEVILLE. Chevrette was Government Whip 1979 to 1982.
In 1981, (Joliette), PQ GUY CHEVRETTE defeated LIB ANDRE ASSELIN by 5,200. Minister of Recreation, Fish and Game, Sept. 1982; appointed of Social Affairs, Nov. 29, 1984. Minister of Health & Social Services, June to Dec. 1985. PQ CHEVRETTE was re-elected in 1985 and 1989. House Leader, 1985 to 1987;Leader of Opposition, Nov. 1987 to Aug. 1989. House Leader 1989-1994.

Resigned as Chief Election Organizer, June 5, 1998.
In 1998, PQ CHEVRETTE defeated LIB SYLVIE LESPERANCE by 10,148 votes. Reappointed Minister responsible for Native Affairs until Jan. 29, 2002; Minister of Transport; Minister responsible for Wildlife and Parks; Minister responsible for Electoral Reform; Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region; Minister responsible for Northern Québec region, Dec. 15, 1998 to Jan. 29, 2002. On Jan. 29, 2002, Chevrette and Brassard, after meeting with Landry, resigned from Cabinet and as MNAs, saying they would have had their roles diminished in the next day's Cabinet shuffle. They said they felt the Party had pushed them out the door.
In Jun 17/02 byelection, ADQ SYLVIE LESPÉRANCE defeated PQ MICHEL BELLEHUMEUR
by 1,855 votes.
