Jean-Lesage contains that part of Qebec City bounded by: the boundary of the towns of Beauport and Charlesbourg, the extension of St-David Avenue, Félix-Leclerc Autoroute (40), the St.Lawrence River, the St-Charles River, CNR railway line, 18th Avenue, Lamontagne Avenue, Wilfrid-Hamel Boulevard, Laurentian Autoroute (175) and the boundary of Quebec City and Charlesbourg.

Redistribution:

Limoilou riding was created in 1965 from part of Québec-Est riding. In redistribution before 1989 election, kept all former riding and added 8.58% of Montmorency.

In 1992 redistribution, lost small area to Montmorency and gained area from Vanier riding.

In 2001 redistribution:

  • riding named changed from Limoilou to Jean-Lesage

  • kept 88% of Limoilou; 12% to Taschereau; added 15% Montmorency;

  • lost to Taschereau - area from southern part of riding, bounded by: 18th Avenue, CNR railway line; St-Charles River and 3rd Ave. (38,904 electors);

  • gained from Montmorency, in north, that part of Beauport north of Signeuriale street to Félix-Leclerc autoroute (8,554 electors)

  • In 1973, LIB HOUDE defeated PQ JEAN TAILLON by 5,749 votes.

  • In 1976, PQ RAYMOND GRAVEL defeated LIB HOUDE by 3,707 votes.

  • In 1981, PQ GRAVEL defeated LIB YVAN TURCOTTE by 3,881 votes.

  • In 1985, LIB MICHEL DESPRES defeated PQ LEOPOLD FOURNIER by 8,483 votes.

  • In 1989, LIB DESPRES defeated PQ GILLES GRENIER by 5,876 votes.

  • In 1994, PQ MICHEL RIVARD defeated LIB YVAN CLOUTIER by 4,484 votes.

  • In 1998, LIB MICHEL DESPRÉS defeated PQ RIVARD by 1,298 votes.
