Created in 1965 from parts of Jeanne-Mance and Montreal-Laurier ridings.

In 1992 redistribution, kept all existing riding and added areas from

kept 100% of riding and gained 4% of Viau;

In 1966, LIB YVES MICHAUD defeated UN GERARD GOSSELIN by 2,799 votes. From Oct. 31, 1969, sat as Independent Liberal after disagreeing with his party over Bill 63.
In 1970, PQ GUY JORON defeated LIB MICHAUD by 12 votes.(One of original PQ-won seats in 1970)
In 1973, LIB JEAN-M. BEAUREGARD defeated PQ JORON by 636 votes.
In 1976, PQ RODRIGUE TREMBLAY defeated LIB BEAUREGARD by 5,345 votes. Minister of Industry & Commerce, Nov. 76 to Sept. 1979. Hearing he would be dropped from Cabinet, he resigned from caucus to sit as an Independent on Sept.21, 1979 after having written a five-page letter of resignation.
PQ JACQUES ROCHEFORT won in 1981 and 1985. Appointed Minister of Housing & Consumer Protection, December 1984. Left caucus to sit as Independent Nov. 18, 1987.
