In 1973, LIB GUY FORTIER, who had been elected in Gaspé-Sud in 1962, 1966 and 1970, ran here and defeated PQ CLAUDE ALLARD by 6,949 votes.

In 1976, UN MICHEL LE MOIGNAN defeated LIB FORTIER by 420 votes. Interim Leader of UN, March 1980 to Jan. 1981.

In 1981, PQ HENRI LEMAY defeated LIB ROBERT PIDGEON by 1,232 votes. Appointed responsible for Development & Regional Highways, responsible for Planning and Regional Development for Quebec and Regional Highway Funds, Dec. 20, 1984.

In 1985, LIB ANDRE BEAUDIN defeated PQ LEMAY by 4,000 votes. In 1989, LIB BEAUDIN defeated PQ DANIELLE DOYER by 1,937 votes.

In 1994, PQ GUY LELIEVRE defeated LIB JOHN CARBERY by 3,377 votes.
