Frontenac contains the following municipalities: Adstock, Disraëli, East Broughton, Irlande, Kinnear's Mills, Sacré-Coeur-de-Jésus, Saint-Adrien-d'Irlande, Saint-Jacques-de-Leeds, Saint-Jacques-le-Majeur-de-Wolfestown, Saint-Jean-de-Brébeuf, Saint-Joseph-de-Coleraine, Saint-Julien, Saint-Pierre-de-Broughton, Sainte-Praxède and Thetford Mines.

Redistribution:
No change in redistribution before 1989 election.
In 1992 redistribution, kept all existing riding and added St-Jean-de-Brebeuf polls from Lotbinière riding.

In 2001 redistribution:

  • 97% of riding remains; 3% moved to Lotbinière

  • lost, to Lobinière, from SW corner - Saint-Ferdinand and Sainte-Sophie-de Halifax (2164 electors).

  • In 1973, LIB HENRI LECOURS defeated PQ JEAN-MARC LABBE by 4,274 votes.

  • PQ GILLES GREGOIRE won in 1976 and 1981.(Gregoire had been RC MP; defeated as PQ in Jonquière in 1970) Gregoire arrested on March 1983 for sexual offences with teenage girls. Found guilty on June 18, 1983; sentenced to 2 years less a day on July 16, 1983; released from prison March 28, 1984. He did not resign his seat but sat as Independent after June 20, 1983.

  • LIB ROGER LEFEBVRE won in 1985 and 1989. Lefebvre appointed Deputy Speaker, Oct. 16, 1990; appointed Minister of Justice, Attorney General and Minister responsible for Electoral Reform, Jan. 11, 1994.

  • In 1994, LIB LEFEBVRE defeated PQ PIERRE TURCOTTE by 2,336 votes.

  • In 1998, PQ MARC BOULIANNE defeated PQ LUC BERTHOLD by 903 votes.
