Charlevoix contains the following municipalities: Baie-Sainte-Catherine, Baie-Saint-Paul, Beaupré, Clermont, La Malbaie, Les Éboulements, L'Isle-aux-Coudres, Notre-Dame-des-Monts, Petite-Rivière-Saint-François, Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs, Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Saint-Ferréol-les-Neiges, Saint-Hilarion, Saint-Irénée, Saint-Joachim, Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague-du-Cap-Tourmente, Saint-Siméon, Saint-Tite-des-Caps and Saint-Urbain as well as the hamlet of Sagard.

Redistribution:
Only minor change in redistribution before 1994 election.

In 2001 redistribution:

  • kept all existing riding;

  • added, in north, from Dubuc riding - Saagard (164 electors)

  • LIB RAYMOND MAILLOUX won in 1962, 1966, 1970, 1973, 1976 and 1981. Was Minister of State, Roads, 1970-73; Minister of Public Works, 1970-72. Minister of Transport, 1973-76; Minister of Public Works & Supply, Nov/73-75.

  • In 1985, LIB DANIEL BRADET defeated PQ PAUL-HENRI JEAN by 6,039 votes. In 1989, LIB BRADET defeated PQ ROSAIRE BERTRAND by 1,804 votes.

  • In 1994, PQ ROSAIRE BERTRAND defeated LIB BRADET by 3,105 votes. In 1998, PQ BERTRAND defeated LIB CLAIRE GAGNON by 5,326 votes. Appointed Minister responsible for the National Capital region, June 21, 2001. Took over as chief political organizer after Gilles Baril's resignation in Feb. 2002.
