Riding created in 1972 from parts of Chauveau and Montmorency.
In 1992 redistribution, lost parts of 4 polls to Chauveau and gained parts of 3 polls from Chauveau.

In 1973, LIB ANDRE HARVEY, who had won in Chauveau in 1970, won here.
In 1976, PQ DENIS DE BELLEVAL defeated LIB ANDRE HARVEY by 4,785 votes. Was VP of Treasury Board, 1976-78; appointed Minister of Public Service, Nov 16/76; Minister of Transport Sept. 1979 - 1981. In 1981, PQ DE BELLEVAL defeated LIB VERONIQUE GUIMONT-BARRY by 5,998 votes.
de Belleval did not return to Cabinet after election. He resigned on December 7, 1982 - became VP at Lavalin.
In June 20, 1983 by-el, LIB MARC-YVAN COTE defeated PQ ANDRE GINGRAS. (Côté had been elected in Matane in 1973; defeated there in 1976) LIB COTE was re-elected in 1985 and 1989.
