  • In 1973, LIB GLENDON BROWN, incumbent from Brome, defeated PC GEORGES BINETTE by 9,687 votes.

  • In 1976, UN ARMAND RUSSELL defeated LIB BROWN by 5,930 votes. Russell was elected in Shefford in 1956-1970 inclusive. Defeated in 1973. Between 1966-70, he was Minister of Public Works and VP of Treasury Board. He resigned on Jan. 11, 1980 to run federally.

  • In byelection on Nov.17, 1980, LIB PIERRE PARADIS defeated PQ GERARD COMPTOIS. LIB PARADIS was re-elected in 1981, 1985 and 1989. Appointed Minister of Manpower and Income Security and Minister of Labour, Dec. 1985; Minister of Municipal Affairs, June 23, 1988. Appointed Minister of Environment, Oct. 11, 1989; Government House Leader, Nov. 12, 1992; Minister of Environment & Wildlife and Government House Leader, Jan. 11 - Sept. 1994. In 1994, LIB PARADIS defeated MARIE-PAUL BOURASSA-MAROIS by 9,430 votes. In 1998, LIB PARADIS defeated PQ RAOUL DUGUAY by 8,338 votes.
