In 1970, PQ CAMILLE LAURIN defeated LIB GERARD BEAUDRY by 500 votes. (One of original 7 PQ-won seats in 1970) House Leader, 1970-73.
In 1973, LIB JEAN BOUDREAULT defeated PQ LAURIN by 300 votes.
In 1976, PQ CAMILLE LAURIN defeated LIB BOUDREAULT by 7,047 votes. Appointed Minister of State for Cultural Development, Nov 26/76; Minister of State Cultural and Scientific Development, June - Nov. 1980; Minister of Education, Nov. 6, 1980.
In 1981, PQ LAURIN defeated LIB JEAN RIVARD by 4,254 votes. Appointed Minister of Education, April 30, 1981; Chair of Cultural Development Committee, Sept. 1983; Minister of Social Affairs, March 5, 1984. One of "Group of 12", he resigned from Cabinet, Nov. 26, 1984 after Levesque said sovereignty should not be an issue in the next election (Article 1 of PQ Constitution).
