Bourassa-Sauvé contains that part of Montréal bounded by: the rivière des Prairies, the boundary of Montréal-Nord with Montréal, Anjou, Saint-Léonard and Montréal, the boulevard Saint-Michel, the boulevard Henri-Bourassa and the boulevard Pie-IX.

Redistribution:
New riding of Bourassa-Sauvé was created in 2001 redistribution from:

  • 100% of SAUVÉ riding; 57% of BOURASSA riding;
    (43% of Bourassa riding is now in Crémazie riding)- all of Sauvé is now considered the northern part of Bourassa-Sauvé riding (32,548 electors); the southern part of the Bourassa riding is bounded by: rivière des Prairies, ave Pigeon, boul Léger, ave Pigeon, border of Montréal-Nord with Saint-Léonard and Montréal, boul Saint-Michel, Henri-Bourassa and boul Pie-IX (18,541 electors)

    Political History:

    BOURASSA

  • LIB GEORGES-E TREMBLAY won in 1966 and 1970. Appointed Minister of Transport, 1970. He was named President, Office des autoroute du Québec and seat became vacant Sept. 19, 1973. In 1973, LIB LISE BACON defeated PQ YVES MICHAUD by 3,889 votes. Appointed Minister of State Social Affairs; Minister for Consumers, Co-ops and and Financial Institutions; Minister of Immigration.

  • In 1976, PQ PATRICE LAPLANTE defeated LIB BACON by 2,162 votes.

  • In 1981, PQ LAPLANTE defeated LIB AUGUSTIN ROY by 923 votes.

  • LIB LOUISE ROBIC won in 1985 and 1989.  Appointed Minister of Cultural Communities and Immigration; Associate Minister of Health and Social Services; Associate Minister of Finance.

  • In 1994, LIB YVON CHARBONNEAU defeated PQ PIERRE SEGUIN by 2,540. CHARBONNEAU resigned to run federally.

  • LIB MICHELE LAMQUIN-ETHEIR defeated PQ CLAUDEL TOUSSAINT in Oct 6. 1997 byelectionl and 1998 election.

    SAUVÉ

  • PQ JACQUES-YVAN MORIN won in 1973. 1976, 1981. Served as Minister of Education, Deputy Premier, Minister of State for Cultural and Scientific Development, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. After Levesque told him he was dividing Intergovernmental Affairs between two other ministers, Morin resigned on March 5, 1984.

  • LIB MARCEL PARENT won June 18, 1984 byelection and in 1985, 1989, 1994.

  • In 1998, LIB LINE BEAUCHAMP defeated PQ UMBERTO DI GENOVA by 6,712 votes.
