Riding created in 1992 redistribution from large part of Verchères riding and small area from Iberville.

No change in 2001 redistribution.

  • In 1976, PQ JEAN-PIERRE CHARBONNEAU defeated LIB OSTIGUY by 4,990 votes.

  • PQ CHARBONNEAU was re-elected in 1981 and 1985.

  • In 1989, PQ LUCE DUPUS defeated LIB J-P. BEAUCHESNE by 699 votes.

  • In 1994, PQ JEAN-PIERRE CHARBONNEAU, incumbent from Vercheres, defeated LIB
    LAURIER THIBAULT by 4,810 votes. Became Speaker of the National Assembly on March 12, 1996.

  • In 1998, PQ CHARBONNEAU defeated LIB YVES HENNEKENS by 7,599 votes. Speaker until Jan. 30, 2002.
