Allo: 52.1% (16.13% Arabic; 6.2% Greek)

Acadie contains that part of Montréal bounded by: Rivière des Prairies including île Perry, St-Laurent Boulevard, the Metropolitan Autoroute (40), Ste-Croix Avenue, Côte-Vertu Boulevard, O'Brien Avenue, the limit of the boroughs of St-Laurent and Montreal and Laurentian Autoroute (15).

Redistribution:

L'Acadie was created in 1972 from: 60% of St-Laurent and 40% Ahuntsic.

Small part of Crémazie was added in the 1988 redistribution.

No change in redistribution before the 1994 election.

In 2003 redistribution:

  • kept all existing riding and added 12 per cent of Crémazie

  • added, in the north, from southern part of Crémazie—area bounded by the Rivière des Prairies, Saint-Laurent boulevard,   Métropolitaine autoroute (40), de l'Esplanade avenue and Sauvé Ouest street, de l' Esplanade avenue and its extension (4,434 electors).

  • In 1970, in Ahuntsic, LIB FRANCOIS CLOUTIER defeated PQ JACQUES PARIZEAU by 972 votes.

  • In 1973, LIB FRANCOIS CLOUTIER defeated PQ FRANCOIS DESROSIERS by 11,296. Appointed Minister of Cultural Affairs in 1970, Minister of Immigration, 1970-72; Minister of Education, Feb. 1972; Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, July 1975 to Oct. 1976. Resigned and named Consul-General of Quebec in Paris on Oct. 4, 1976.

  • LIB THERESE LAVOIE-RIOUX won in 1976, 1981 and 1985. Appointed Minister of Health and Social Services, Dec. 1985 and Minister responsible for Family Policies, Dec. 1988.  Did not run in 1989. Appointed Senator on Sept. 27, 1990.

  • LIB YVAN BORDELEAU won in 1989 and 1994.

  • In 1998, LIB BORDELEAU defeated PQ DIANE BOUDREAULT by 19,629 votes.
