In 1973, LIB JEAN-HUGUES BOUTIN defeated PC AURELE AUDET by 2,712 votes.

In 1976, PQ FRANCOIS GENDRON defeated RC ROGER BUREAU by 1,224 votes. LIB BOUTIN came in third. Gendron was appointed Minister of Public Service, September 1979.

In 1981, PQ GENDRON defeated LIB CLAIRE LABRECHE by 8,384 votes. Appointed Minister of State for Planning, April 198l; Minister of Planning and Regional Development & Chair of Planning Committee, September 1982; appointed Minister of Education, December 1984 to December 1985. PQ GENDRON was re-elected in 1985, 1989 and 1994. Appointed Minister of Natural Resources Sept. 26, 1994 to Jan. 29, 1996.

In 1998, PQ GENDRON defeated LIB MARTIN VEILLEUX by 7,400 votes. Appointed Minister of Natural Resources, Feb. 13, 2002 (after the resignation of Gilles Baril).
