Saguenay/Lac St-Jean: August 2013 Archives

With the Marois government getting ready to open debate on its Charter of Quebec Values, a citizens' organization wants to take a related question to the Supreme Court of Canada.
Le Mouvement laïque québécois has asked the Court to hear its appeal of a lower court ruling that allows Saguenay city council to open its meetings with a prayer.
In May, the Quebec appeals court said the city had the right to recite the prayer and to maintain religious symbols in the public council chambers. It said the practice did not necessarily mean the city was imposing religious views on others.
Michel Lincourt is a member of the Mouvement's governing board and he joined us this morning.
