The city of Saguenay is getting involved in ice fishing

Snowmobile season in the Saguenay begins with a blessing

IMG_3478.JPGMembers of the Saguenay Snowmobiling Club had their annual blessing on Sunday. People braved the snow squalls and cold to gather at the Camping Jonquiere. They had a party and also asked for protection on the trails and on the forest. The CBC's Marika Wheeler spoke with some of the snowmobilers after the blessing, including club organizer John Mustaikis, club members Marc Potvin, Richard Blackburn and his son Nathan.

Groundfish season begins in the Saguenay region

ALAINMANNING.JPGThe opening of the groundfish season is very exciting for ice fishing enthusiast on the Saguenay Fjord. A few particularly motivated fishermen and women were huddled in tents, in -26 degree weather at midnight Saturday morning. The CBC's Marika Wheeler was among them, and brings us this report.
