Environmental impact of oil or gas development in Gulf of St. Lawrence

There's a lot of interest in the potential for oil or gas in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The Offshore Petroleum Board held another public meeting last night in Havre-St-Pierre, on the North Shore. Sylvain Archambault is a biologist and one of the-spokespeople for the umbrella environmental group, la Coalition St-Laurent.

Thetford Mines planning for a future without asbestos mining

After the town of Asbestos, now Thetford Mines has to plan for a future without asbestos mining. And so far, it has to do that without any help from the Quebec government. Vicky Lachance is an economic development officer with the SDE, the region's economic development agency. She joined us to tell us more.

Uranium exploration project in the Otish Mountains

The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission has given the green light to the uranium exploration project in the Otish Mountains. We'll hear what both the company and the Cree are saying about what should happen next.

Denis Boucher is spokesperson for Strateco Resources, which has been working on the project for six years. We also speak to Matthew Coon-Come, Grand Council Chief of the James Bay Cree.
