Private school closure leaves lasting impact on community
When the private elementary school L'école Primaire des Arbruisseaux closed its doors last year, 23 teachers and staff found themselves out of a job... and they still have thousands of dollars owing to them in wages and benefits. The school's troubles were no secret: decreasing enrollement and costly building maintenance was often discussed openly by the staff. Teachers had even accepted significant pay cuts several times just to keep the school open. But by August of last year, there just weren't enough students registered. Our Townships reporter Alison Brunette brings us the story.
