Residents of Lac-Brome are worried about the future of Knowlton House

knowltonhouse.JPGLac-Brome Town Council is going to hear an appeal tomorrow night of its refusal last March to issue a demolition permit for the historic Paul Holland Knowlton House.

The permit was requested by the Knowlton Golf Club.

Some residents fear Council might change its mind this time, and allow the demolition of the town's oldest home. Paul Marriott is one of the concerned residents, and tells us why he is so concerned about this.

Sherbrooke bus drivers refuse to let drunk students on board

Earlier this month, we brought you the story of some people in Sherbrooke who say their lives are disrupted every year during Frosh week. Frosh week is over, and despite attempts to address the problem, issues around excessive student drinking remain.
Last week, the Société de Transport de Sherbrooke decided city bus drivers won't stop any more at bus stops where groups of inebriated students are waiting for a ride. Marc Denault is the president of the STS, and spoke to our Townships reporter Alison Brunette about that decision.

Léo Fugazza is the spokesperson of the undergraduate student union (FEUS) at the Université de Sherbrooke, and joined us with his reaction to the persistent problem.

Parked train in Farnham

farnhamtrain.JPGEighty-five train cars filled with an unknown type of fuel have been left to sit on the tracks in the town of Farnham in the Eastern Townships since the accident in Lac-Mégantic this past July. Transport Canada is refusing to allow the convoy to move without it conforming to security regulations.

Our Townships reporter Alison Brunette has been in Farnham, looking for answers to why these cars have just been left to sit. Citizens and local politicians, including Member of Parliament for Brome-Mississquoi Pierre Jacob, tell us why they are alarmed by the situation.
