Disease decimating North American bat populations
North America's population of bats is being ravaged by disease. White nose syndrome started to appear in parts of the province of Quebec several years ago, but in just three years, the population of some species has plummetted by more than 90 per cent.
Anouk Simard is a biologist with the environment and wildlife ministry who is trying to track down surviving bat colonies. She explained to us what their dissapearance could entail for ecosystems.
