MONDAY: Best of Q, hosted by Jian. Cheryl Strayed on her bestselling memoir, Wild. English folk rockers Mumford and Sons perform from their sophomore album, Babel. Morley Winograd, author of several books including Millennial Momentum: How a New Generation is Remaking America, about this generation and how they're changing workplace culture.
TUESDAY: Best of Q, hosted by Jian. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling discusses her first novel for adults, The Casual Vacancy. Divine Fits, the indie rock super group featuring Britt Daniels, singer and guitarist for Spoon, along with Montreal musician Dan Boeckner, ex-member of Wolf Parade and Handsome Furs, and drummer Sam Brown. The band performs live from its debut record A Thing Called Divine Fits. Chart-topping country music star Kenny Rogers reflects on five decades of his life on the road, as he details in his new memoir Luck or Something Like It.
WEDNESDAY: Jim Brown guest hosts. Travel writer Marcello di Cintio on his acclaimed book, Walls: Travels Along the Barricades, in which he visits geographically-divided lands, from India and the Middle East to the US-Mexico border. Best of Q: performance and conversation with singer Nelly Furtado on her latest album, The Spirit Indestructible Best of Q: British photographer Martin Parr.
THURSDAY: Jim Brown guest hosts. A look at why the growing aesthetic appreciation accorded to food in North America is not making us more sensitive to the world of art. Best of Q: Brooklyn band Grizzly Bear in performance and conversation. Their album, Shields, was on many critics' top 10 list, internationally. Best of Q: video game creator Vander Caballero, whose adventure game Papa & Yo is based on his childhood with an unpredictable, alcoholic father.
FRIDAY: Jim Brown guest hosts. Matthew Honan of Wired explains why, from personal experience, he's given up on the notion that passwords can protect our computers.
Best of Q: actor Javier Bardem explains why he took time out of a Hollywood career to help make the documentary Sons of the Clouds, about the plight of Western Saharans. Best of Q: chef April Bloomfield on her cookbook A Girl and Her Pig. Best of Q: a debate over apps that allow parents to track the location and progress of their kids and teens.
