Bruno Banani is an Olympic luger from the Polynesian sovereign state of Tonga. Or is he?

The Olympic athlete, who attracted attention for being his country's first winter Olympian, finished 32nd in the luge final at Sochi. But he was born with the name Fuahea Semi.

If Bruno Banani sounds familiar, then, that's because it's the name of a German underwear manufacturer. As the Olympian explains from Sochi in an interview with Jian, a marketing ploy that called for him to give up his identity allowed him to make history for his nation.
