In an appearance from the Best of Q, Owen Pallett joins Jian to perform from his new, highly-anticipated record, In Conflict. The Toronto musician -- who is fresh off touring with Arcade Fire and scoring an Oscar-nominated soundtrack for Spike Jonze's Her -- continues on the theme of collaboration with his fourth album.

Pallet shares what it was like to work with legendary English musician Brian Eno and, for the first time, a backing band. He also explains how Dan Savage's "it gets better campaign" influenced his new work and why he doesn't want In Conflict to be viewed as a "confessional" record.

The original segment aired May 12, 2014

Watch the wizard in action

The Polaris Prize-winning artist, formerly known as Final Fantasy, is widely admired for his ability to create intensely rich soundscapes. To hear him is one thing, but to see how one human can make so many interesting sounds is quite another.

Below you'll find Song For Five & Six, from his most recent visit, as well as two gems from the Q vault: E for Estranged and The Great Elsewhere.
