Os Gêmeos on the seduction of graffiti art

Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo discuss plans in their workshop. Continue to the bottom of the post to view some of their artwork. (Os Gemeos)

Jian speaks with one half of twin brother team Os Gêmeos, internationally celebrated graffiti artist Gustavo Pandolfo. The artist reflects on his work and how his home city of São Paulo has become a haven for street art.

Os Gêmeos art has been featured at the Tate Modern in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo and, despite the threat of being scrubbed off, many walls and surfaces in their city. Their playful, colourful characters evoke a fantastic other-world, while still having some pointed things to say about the real world.

The twins recently painted the airplane of the Brazilian World Cup team, and they're currently set to launch a new show in their home city called The Opera of the Moon.

This interview is part of a special series timed to coincide with the FIFA World Cup -- Q Brazil: Culture, Politics and the World Cup -- which features interviews and performances with artists, thinkers, and observers of the large and fascinating South American nation.
