Colin Meloy debuts 'Carolina Low' at Q live in Portland

He debuted a song he wrote that same morning. He spoke fondly of his impoverished years living in a warehouse. He pledged that he has no intention of moving to L.A.

Colin Meloy, the writer and frontman for the Portland indie band The Decemberists, floored Jian with his marvelously mellow outlook on life. The musician performed a brand new song in front of a packed audience in Portland and confirmed that, yes, he really did write the track just hours before the show.

Meloy also spoke about the final volume in the best-selling Wildwood Chronicles, a fantastical childrens' series he created with his wife, illustrator Carson Ellis.
