Q's critic panel: Oscar nominees sized up

Listen

Grab some popcorn and settle in for a Q tradition. Following the announcement of this year's Academy Award nominees, we've convened a panel of critics to weigh in on the snubs, the shoo-ins and the surprises.

The panelists are: Brian D. Johnson, president of the Toronto Film Critics Association and a Contributing Editor at Maclean's magazine. Johanna Schneller, freelance writer and film columnist with The Globe and Mail. Katherine Monk, national movie critic for Postmedia News.

The 86th Academy Awards, hosted by comedian Ellen DeGeneres, will air on Sunday, March 2nd. Please continue on to see the full list of nominees.

ellen-620.jpgOur panelists agree that Ellen DeGeneres will be a crowdpleaser, unlike last year's polarizing host, Seth MacFarlane.
