In today's opening essay, Jian weighs in on a "remarkably disappointing week in politics" -- referencing the ongoing turmoil in the Senate, Ontario's Queen's Park and Toronto's City Hall. He argues that widespread apathy, especially among young people, is symptomatic of a larger problem.

"What role models do they have?" asks Jian. "With all these political messes, what lessons will be learned?"
