Has Anonymous become mainstream?

Anonymous, the online activist network have received kudos recently for Operation Justice for Rehtaeh, their effort to get the RCMP to re-open their investigation into the alleged sexual assault of Nova Scotia teenager Rehtaeh Parsons. And last week, they launched a successful kickstarter campaign to expand their news service. So is Anonymous becoming mainstream? Guest host Terry O'Reilly put this question to anthropologist Gabriella Coleman, Wolfe Chair in Scientific and Technological Literacy at McGill University.

We also want to hear your thoughts...do you appreciate the work Anonymous does? Do you think they're vigilantes who can hurt innocent people through their online activism? Post your comments here or email us: q@cbc.ca
