Should theatres join the social media revolution and allow texting and tweeting while the show goes on? A growing number of theatres, opera and ballet companies, even cinemas are looking at relaxing the rules around mobile devices.
Boston-based actor and director Ben Evett argues allowing tweeting and texting will attract younger audiences and allow performers to connect with a wider world outside the theatre's walls. John Karastamatis of Mirvish Productions takes the opposite view, saying those glowing screens are distracting to audiences and performers.
