It's a question that often gets asked in North America, particularly when we're confronted with the shock of extreme violence as we have been this week. But the debate takes on a whole different tone for parents, educators and legislators in Iraq, where children have known real violence their whole lives. New York Times reporter John Leland was on the line from Baghdad this morning to talk to Jian about the move to ban toy guns in Iraq. Have a listen below if you missed it, and let us know what you think about the oft-debated connection between toy guns and real gun violence.
Do you think there's a connection between play and real life? Or is playing at shooting as unrelated to a child's future actions as playing with firetrucks and babydolls?
