Oprah's Book Club: Good for Literature?

oprah.jpgThe final installment of Oprah's Book Club has been announced: two 19th century novels by Charles Dickens.

Oprah's audience screamed with joy when she announced the picks.

But not Hillary Kelly.  She's an editor at the New Republic who has some misgivings about Oprah's Book Club... and her choice of Dicken's serious lit.

After all, Oprah admits she's never read Dickens before.

What do you think of the impact Oprah's Book Club has had on reading?  Are you a fan of the way she approaches literature?  Will you be reading Dickens along with Oprah?                AP Photo / Chris Pizzello
