For my money, and let's keep in mind that I have very little actual money, the breakout Canadian web personality (north of Justin Bieber) of 2010 is indie a cappella-ist MIKE TOMPKINS. His slick videos of slick Katy Perry and Rihanna covers (using only his voice and mouth as he is fond of pointing out) have garnered well over 10 million hits but why didn't he rate a mention on YOUTUBE'S CANADIAN top ten list of 2010? Are there any other notable Canadian web series or vids that got overlooked on end-of-year polls? Lemme know...and click through for more stuff.
I'm not much for Christmas music but Left Coast musician HILARY GRIST has me humming along to her carolling re-interpretations offered free via iTunes. The six song set was conceived of as an Xmas e-card add-on.
Speaking of "Xmas", some object to "X" taking the place of "Christ" but as a MERRIAM WEBSTER dictionary editor explains, it's all legit, etymologically speaking.
Why didn't I think of this? Create music as you do a little URBAN PLANNING.
I just couldn't stay up for that total eclipse of the moon the other night but this VIMEO USER did...thank you...
And, finally, do you remember that old British comedy show, The Two Ronnies? Well, one of the Ronnies, Ronnie Corbett, has just done a holiday special and called it, um, The One Ronnie. This funny sketch is about BLACKBERRIES.
Peace...have a good New Year...see you in January!
