On today's show, film critic David Thomson argued that the trend in Hollywood acting is "pretending", as opposed to the emotional honesty we used to see in Method performers like Marlon Brando, James Dean, and Dustin Hoffman. And, according to Thomson, the popularity of pretenders, like George Clooney or Meryl Streep, indicates that we, the audience, are more cynical, and more comfortable with insincerity. In fact, we expect it. In the spirit of putting that argument to the test, tell us who gave the most emotionally honest performances on film this year.
