Is North American reality TV ready for a gay icon?

Nigel Lythgoe, a producer and a judge of "So You Think You Can Dance", recently said a same-sex ballroom dance couple who auditioned for the show would "alienate" the show's audience. He added that prefer to see the men "dancing with a girl." (He later apologized for his comments.) On American Idol, some speculate that homophobia played a role in Adam Lambert's loss to Kris Allen. Today on Q, Canadian dance legend Rex Harrington and journalist Rachel Giese talked about whether reality TV is ready for a gay icon. What do you think?
