Is Your Sexuality Misrepresented in Popular Culture?

Author Drew Hayden Taylor visited Q to discuss his new book Me Sexy and popular depictions of Native sexuality. You know, like the silent muscular brave we've seen in films or the dysfunctional victim of residential-school sexual abuse we read about in the newspaper.

Listen to what Taylor has to say about the media's depiction of Native sexuality here.

Taylor argued that though popular depictions of Native sexuality aren't accurate, they aren't necessarily damaging either. Is this true for other cultures? What doesn't the media show that it probably should? Have you had to fight against sexual stereotyping?
