It's a shrine to the worst of the worst. The Museum of Bad Art collects art that's so bad it's good. MOBA bills themselves are "the world's only museum dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms." It's gotta be real art, and it's gotta be sincere. And, if you can believe it, they only accept about 10 per cent of the submissions they receive... Listen to Jian's conversation with the Permanent Acting Interim Executive Director of the Museum of Bad Art here. Check out the MOBA collection here. And have your say right here!
Is art getting better or worse? Are you more likely to point something out that's spectacularly bad or spectacularly good? Does appreciating bad art help you appreciate good art? Is there a universal standard of good and bad? Just how fine is that line? Be bad, be very bad, and tell us what you think.
