Wilbur is designed to promote emergent literacy and nurture a love of reading in children aged two to five. Wilbur stars an enthusiastic, loveable, fun-loving and funny 8 year-old calf whose barnyard serves as a launching pad for adventure, stories, songs, play, laughter and a liberal sprinkling of the unpredictable. Along with his barnyard buddies, Wilbur is eager to introduce everyone to the exciting world of books and reading. In his words, "Books are moooovelous!"

This highly innovative televison series showcases a combination of several media. The magic of Wilbur and his barnyard world is captured by utilizing state-of-the art technology that blends puppetry and CGI (computer-generated imagery). The storybooks that Wilbur and his friends journey into will closely replicate the look and feel of real picture books with the presence of actual print on the screen as well as colorful 2D animation that helps to illustrate the story. The episodes also contain energetic live action segments involving real kids.
