Maritime Magazine tells stories about issues and people throughout the region. We present documentaries prepared by Maritime journalists that take a thoughtful approach to the changes going on in our region. We talk about the things that pull us together as a region - and sometimes tear us apart!
We do stories that happen in the here and now. While history, memoirs and essays are sometimes heard on the show, they have a connection to today and issues that are important to people living in this region.
We profile people who are making news, and also tell stories that you won’t hear anywhere else. We value the voices of individual Maritimers and the perspective they can bring to complex topics. We don’t shy away from politics or crime. But we also bring you stories about Maritime life that don’t fit into an election campaign or a Monday morning court hearing.
A number of stories from Maritime Magazine have been nominated and won Atlantic Journalism Awards. As well, Maritime Magazine received the Dave Rogers Award from the Radio and Television News Directors Association for the best Atlantic feature on Radio in 2003. The program was also recognized with an internal CBC Radio program award as Best Regional Weekly.
