Storytelling is a hallmark of Sook-Yin Lee’s career as a filmmaker, musician, actor, artist and radio and TV broadcaster. The former MuchMusic VJ hosted and co-produced the award-winning personal storytelling program DNTO on CBC Radio One. She starred in the groundbreaking movie Shortbus which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, earning her the 2007 Best Supporting Actress award from the International Cinephile Society. Year of the Carnivore is Lee's feature movie debut as writer-director. Her photography, video and narrative dance work has been presented at TIFF Future Projections, the Ottawa Art Gallery, SummerWorks and Rhubarb performance festivals. She won the 2014 Canadian Screen Award for Best Performance by a Lead Dramatic Actress in a Program/Mini-Series for her role as in the movie Jack. She fronts the band JOOJ who released their debut album on Last Gang Records.
