Rosemary Barton joined CBC's Ottawa parliamentary bureau in 2007. She covered the last federal election, and regularly hosts daily coverage of question period out of Ottawa.

Barton began her reporting career covering Quebec politics in Quebec City. She has since reported on provincial elections, various first minister's meetings and leadership campaigns.

Barton has also covered numerous live events, including: the Dawson College school shooting in Montreal; the Conrad Black verdict in Chicago; the Mulroney-Schreiber affair in Ottawa; and, most recently, Barack Obama's visit to Ottawa.

Barton is originally from Winnipeg, where she earned a degree in French literature from Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface, and then later a Master's in Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa.
