For twenty years, Peter Togni has been a broadcaster for CBC Radio 2 on programs including That Time of the Night, Stereo Morning and Weekender and is currently the host of Choral Concert. He has received a steady stream of commissions for choral music, string orchestra, chamber music, concertos, film scores, solo organ and piano works that have been regularly broadcast on the CBC as well as internationally. He has received a Juno nomination, is the musician in residence for the Halifax-based St. Cecilia Concert Series for 2008-2009 and is a member of the trio Sanctuary, which tours internationally each year.
A native of Pembroke, Ontario, Peter studied organ and composition at the University of British Columbia and at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, France, where he won first prize in composition and studied organ and improvisation with Jean Langlais. He currently resides in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he directs the Togni Consort and regularly gives public talks and master classes on organ and improvisation.
