Originally from Hamilton, Lucy has a degree in Political Studies from Queens University. Lucy's work with CBC has taken her from Yukon, where she was host/producer of the afternoon show on CBC Radio in Whitehorse, to Ottawa where she was Field Reporter and Friday host of Ottawa Morning on CBC Radio One, 91.5. She's also worked in the Netherlands and China, and as a host, producer and reporter with Deutsche Welle World Service Radio based in Cologne, Germany. She was Deutsche Welle's radio and television correspondent at the G8 summit in Kananaskis. In the summer of 2003 Lucy took a leave of absence to travel to Africa to teach a radio skills course to people who work in the Afrinet radio network. Since then, Lucy has returned to Africa to teach journalism at the National University of Rwanda in Butare as part of Carleton University's Rwanda Initiative

In October 2006, Lucy was named host of CBC Television's supper hour news program, and anchors the team that presents CBC News Ottawa at 5, 5:30 & 6. CBC News Ottawa is the winner of the 2010 Gemini Award for Best Local Newscast (small market).

Lucy also hosts Creative Block, on CBC's digital channel, bold tv. The series profiles Canada's best artists and entertainers. Creative Block is an international award-winner and the recipient of two Gemini Award nominations, including Best Host or Interviewer in General Information and Talk Program.

Lucy enjoys an active and healthy lifestyle. Her hobbies include running, skiing and cycling. She ran the Seattle marathon in 2000, in a time that 'would have been better if it hadn't been for the hills'. She speaks English and Dutch.
