Karin Larsen is an award winning sports reporter for CBC. A seasoned Olympic analyst and reporter, Karin has covered a multitude of sports over 15 years with the CBC including six Olympic Games and 4 Paralympic Games. She has covered almost every sport in almost every venue including: world championships; major games; the Stanley Cup playoffs; the Grey Cup; and Canucks and Lions games.
Karin grew up in Coquitlam and graduated from SFU with a Communications Degree. She started working at CBC in 1988 as a weekend Sports researcher and has moved up the ranks to where she now travels the world as a Sports Reporter. Her career highlights are many. One was covering synchronized swimming at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Summer Games when her sister Christine was on the Canadian Silver medal team. Not many broadcasters can claim they called a medal winning performance of a familiy member. Another highlight was co-hosting the Torino Olympic Closing Ceremonies alongside Ron MacLean.
A medal winner herself, Karin was a member of Canada’s national synchronized swimming team for almost 10 years. She was an Olympian in 1988 at the Seoul Summer Games. She became world champion in 1986 in addition to winning many other international events. Karin was inducted into the British Columbia Swimming Hall of Fame in 2001. In 1999, she was awarded the Leo Award for Best Sportscaster in Vancouver.
