CBC Meteorologist John Sauder provides you with daily comprehensive weather reports on CBC News: Winnipeg. The CBC Forecast Centre features Manitoba's only live Doppler Radar - so John can provide you with the most reliable forecasts, storm tracking and weather warnings.
John's love of all things weather started when he was the young son of a fighter pilot. "Dad would return from work in his flying suit with his helmut under his arm and I would ask him what it was like to fly through those clouds."
John eventually learned to fly and became Winnipeg's only pilot/traffic reporter on radio logging almost 8,000 flying hours over 10 years.
Sauder earned a certificate in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University in 2007, achieving an Academic Excellence Award. He is endorsed by the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society and is a member of the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society. John has been awarded the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for Weathercasting, one of only three meteorologists in Canada recognized by the AMS. He has also been awarded the seal of approval for broadcast meteorology from the National Weather Association.
John and his wife Kim are an active couple who love the outdoors. They enjoying camping, kayaking, golf, tennis, hiking and in the winter take part in snowmobiling and downhill skiing.
