Jacquie Perrin, CBC News Network host, has shown her versatility both behind the microphone and in front of a camera.
For more than a decade, she was co-host of CBC News: Marketplace, CBC Television's Gemini Award-winning prime-time investigative consumer show. On CBC Newsworld, Perrin became a familiar face to Canadians as the host of Newsworld Weekends, then for Saturday Report, now The National. She has also hosted special reports, including the arrest of Saddam Hussein, the death of Pope John Paul II and the repatriation ceremonies.
Perrin's broadcast career began in Kingston, Ont., where she hosted a daily talk show and put her geography degree from York University to good use as the local weather reporter.
She later returned to her native Toronto to join CFTO TV News. She was also seen as a news anchor on CTV's Canada AM and reporter for CTV National News and TSN.
Behind the microphone, Perrin earned an ACTRA Award nomination for her interviewing skills in private radio. On CBC radio, she was a news announcer for the National News, Metro Morning and Ontario Morning. She has also guest-hosted a variety of CBC Radio shows, including Fresh Air and Cross Country Checkup.
Perrin is an aviation enthusiast; she holds a private pilot's licence and trained in the U.S. after being awarded an aerobatic scholarship. She is a long-time air show volunteer and a member of the international organization of women pilots, the Ninety-Nines. She has written articles about her love of aviation and been a guest speaker on the subject, as well as MC for a variety of aviation and charity events. Perrin is also a volunteer with the Air Cadet League of Canada.
