David brings two decades of experience as a journalist, having covered stories around the world, focusing on Europe and North America. Seven of those years were spent as a travelling correspondent for CBC-TV's top-rated business documentary program, Venture.

Raised in Calgary, he is a former president of the Alberta Press Gallery, and worked as the legislative bureau chief in Edmonton during the last months of Don Getty's time as premier, and the tumultuous first three years of Ralph Klein.

For five years, David was the national host of CBC News: Today broadcast from Calgary on CBC Newsworld. He's also hosted the Business Network on CBC Radio One, and is a former anchor of CBC News at Six in Calgary.

David has won a variety of national and international awards for his work, including a gold medal at the New York Festival of Festivals for best international documentary.

In his spare time, he plays with local band Sweet Potato. David and his wife, Kim, have two children.
