Anthony Germain is an award-winning correspondent based in Beijing.
He ran the CBC's China bureau in Shanghai for three years before moving to the capital with his wife and two children in 2009.
Germain's work in China has earned several awards, including a Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents' Club and Amnesty International prize for human rights reporting as well as an Edward R. Murrow award for outstanding hard-news feature from the
Radio-Television News Directors Association of the United States.
Reporting highlights in China include the devastating Sichuan earthquake and the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
His reporting career spans two decades from local radio in New Brunswick to CBC Radio's parliamentary bureau in Ottawa. In the nation's capital, Germain won investigative awards from the Canadian Association of Journalists for investigative reporting on both radio and television.
Germain has covered conflicts in Kosovo and the rest of the Balkans. He also hosted CBC Radio's flagship political show The House as well as the local Ottawa morning show. He has been a guest host on The Current, As It Happens, and The Sunday Edition.
