Anne-Marie Mediwake is the co-host of CBC Toronto News at 6 p.m. weeknights on CBC Television.
A veteran journalist, Anne-Marie's supper hour show recently won Best Local Newscast at the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards (CSAs). In 2014, she was also nominated for Best Local News Anchor at the CSAs. In 2011, Anne-Marie was named the GTA's Woman of the Year at the Consumer's Choice Awards, recognizing the trust she has earned from viewers for her commitment to journalistic excellence and her active community involvement.
Anne-Marie's portfolio includes prominent roles in CBC's local, national and international news coverage; from Jack Layton's state funeral to The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton from London and their Canadian tour.
Her credits before CBC include Global Television's Toronto flagship newscast, the investigative current affairs show 21C and reporting for CTV's National News with Lloyd Robertson, Canada AM and Newsnet. And she hosted Sri Lanka A Journey Home, a network news documentary that gave Canadians unprecedented access to the devastation after the Tsunami in her birth country of Sri Lanka.
Her desire to give a voice and provide mentorship to young women is reflected in her active community outreach. She and her husband Darryl Konynenbelt are also the proud parents of triplets.
Anne-Marie says her natural curiosity and passion for storytelling is rooted in her Scottish-Sri Lankan ancestry.
