Alicia Asquith

Alicia Asquith is featured in the following program(s):

Alicia Asquith is the host of CBC News Edmonton Late Night on the weekends, and also reports for CBC News Edmonton at 5, 5:30 & 6pm. Originally from Northern B.C., Alicia attended Simon Fraser University where she received her degree in Communications. She is an avid world traveler and has been to dozens of countries. She’s done everything from trekking the Amazon to hiking the Himalayas to swimming under the world’s tallest waterfall. It was while living in Venezuela that Alicia had a chance to work as a freelancer photojournalist covering two-years of civil unrest. This inspired her to return to Canada and enroll in the Broadcast Journalism Program at BCIT.

Alicia’s television debut came as a video-journalist in Dawson Creek, B.C. in 2007 before moving on to work for Global Regina and CHEK News in Victoria as a news and weather anchor. She originally joined CBC Edmonton in 2010 on a short-term contract, but has been here ever since. She enjoys that CBC Edmonton enables her to tell her stories on both television and the radio. To date, Alicia has had the honor of winning two RTNDA awards for her journalism work.

Alicia is an avid lover of the outdoors and has grown to love the river valley. In her free time, she can usually be found exploring the river with her dog, biking area trails or hiking and camping in the mountains.
