Alain has many years of stage and film work to his credit. At the Centaur Theatre he played Bill Sykes in Oliver! and James Tyrone Jr. in both Moon for the Misbegotten, and Long Day’s Journey Into Night. He has performed in fifteen Shakespearean productions including the title role in Hamlet with Big Art, a season with the Stratford Festival's Young Company, and the role of Buckingham opposite William Hurt in the Manitoba Theatre Center's production of Richard III. On film Alain can be seen in the Denys Arcand film Stardom as well in supporting leads in the TV movies Silent Night and Agent of Influence. He also appeared in The Boys of St. Vincent, Brian DePalma's Snake Eyes, had a lead role in the award-winning feature film The Drive and will be seen in The Moth Diaries alongside Lily Cole & Scott Speedman. Recent television shows include the French-language crime drama Le Négotiateur, the English-language police drama Tripping the Wire, the lead in the CBC hockey comedy The Tournament as well as a guest spot on CBC's award- winning court dramedy This Is Wonderland.

Al is currently playing the character of Phil Hill in 18 To Life.
